This year’s hackathon revolves around five key tracks, each representing a
crucial aspect of the Polkadot ecosystem.
Interfaces & Experiences
This track is dedicated to building your understanding of UI and UX fundamentals, including best practices specifically for blockchain development. Gain experience in building a wide variety of interfaces and user experiences that chains can adopt.
ink! Smart Contracts
Explore ink!, an up-and-coming Rust-based embedded programming language for writing smart contracts for blockchains built with the Substrate framework. Get the chance to build your dApps that run ink! smart contracts that are performant, safe, and flexible.
Web3 & Tooling
A diverse track focused on all kinds of tooling and applications that can be used to expand Web3. Those interested in building a better web can explore the use cases for open-source technologies for a society run on peer-to-peer networks.
XCM Integration
Dive into the world of Cross-Chain Messaging (XCM) and build solutions that enable interoperability between participating parachains. This track is perfect for anyone interested in creating scalable and flexible blockchain solutions that can communicate and transact with other parachains.
Mass Adoption
Create innovative solutions with the potential for mass adoption by both technical and non-technical users. From developing dApps that simplify daily tasks to enhancing user experience (UX) to making dApps more enjoyable, this theme emphasizes building blockchain-based solutions that are user-friendly, accessible, and scalable.

What is the Polkadot Blockchain Academy?
The Polkadot Blockchain Academy is the first of its kind — a classroom-based educational program covering the conceptual underpinnings and the hands-on application of blockchain technology, using Polkadot and Substrate as the foundations. Founded by Gavin Wood, the Academy is run by leading engineers and researchers from the Polkadot ecosystem, Parity Technologies, and the Web3 Foundation. Learn more here: https://polkadot.network/development/academy/.
Gain access to two tracks – the Founders’ Track and the Engineers’ Track. Members of the best team interested will have priority access to the Polkadot Blockchain Academy application process.*
*Priority access allows an early application to the Academy or a chance to apply after general applications close (for a limited time) and guarantees an interview for high-performing individuals in the Rust Exam. Note that a place is not guaranteed.
